White pitaya, pink pitaya and the missed yellow dragon fruit.

Pitaya, or dragon fruit.

The best part to stay country side of Brazil is the variety of fruits, vegetables, and legumes with no pesticides. Planted in every garden they are specials, and exchanged between neighbors.

Yesterday was the pitaya day, or if you prefer dragon fruit day. Pitaya is how we call this fruit in Brazil.

I was just arrived when I saw the dragon fruit on the table. The next surprise was to know the color inside the fruit. Because this was the first fruit of the cactus.

Pink pitaya, beautiful! Looks like painted.

Harvest time, watch up the thorns.

Native from Peru and Venezuela, it was transferred to Central America. Nowadays is in Brazil as well. If you don't know how this fruit looks like in the cactus plant. This is the flower before and after blossom.

Pitaya flower before blossom.

The blossom pitaya flower, the night flower.

It's like a dragon, don't you think?

Pitaya is a South America native fruit.

If you are curious, I introduce you the white pitaya.
