In 2009 Romero Britto gave the Beach Ball to Sao Paulo for the 455th birthday. 

The adjective loved-hated defines very well this Brazilian artist. In his own country, the most conservative people don't like his art because "it isn't art, it's an industrial product". Although in the US many others like his art, and recognize his talent too.

I think this is a controvert subject just like the videogames section in the Moma Museum, New York. It's something you should talk about in the next 5 hours flight you are. I hope it stops your talkative colleague.
