There's always something cool going on downtown Greenville. Since two months ago, the most finest fresh and locally grown produce has being sold on Main Street. Check my pics from last Saturday to inspire you.
On Main, the Saturday Market ends on E. Court Street.
If you don't feel like cooking, I suggest you go directly to the food truck, enjoy the music, and go buy other types of products. I guarantee you'll find a great variety of local gems.
Food trucks, music and special yarns.
You may like having your flip flops made before your very eyes, by Cooks Flip Flops.
Pick your size, choose the color for the sole and straps, and tah dah!
BUT if you enjoy cooking, there are a handful of great options for you.
Local eggs for the early birds, it's not my case.
Sneak in some veggies and fruits.
If you can handle gluten, try those handmade flavored pasta with a good variety of sauces.
Don't forget the organic local meat from Gibson Farms.
Also a Brazilian coffee that smells sooo good that I couldn't resist!

Launch in 1975, "Lança Perfume" (Popper) was in the Vinyl "Fruto Proibido" (forbidden fruit in a free translation). Written by Rita Lee, it used to be mandatory in teen's parties in the 80's.
For you to sing, and like.
Lança Perfume (Popper)
Rita Lee
"Please girl, spray all the perfume from this flask in the air
Because it just sets my mind free, it's impossible to remain immune...
To your love, which has a smell of craziness
Come here, honey, caress me a little
I am little baby, only kisses can calm me down
Please, let me have the pleasure of having a good time by your side
Warm me up
Turn me upside down
Do whatever you want with me
Put me on my fours in the act
Fill me with love"

Trace evidence of cigar box instruments exist from 1840 in those cotton fields and plantations in the South of United States. The earliest illustrated proof of a cigar box instrument known is from 1876 where two Civil War Soldiers are at a campsite with one playing a cigar box fiddle.
After the Civil War the African American people had a very difficult time trying to move on with lives together. This was when they created the Blues and many guitars with leftovers of wood. It was a passion for music and cigar box guitar were overflowing.
Although handmade of oil can, people in Africa still making and playing a type of cigar box guitar. Few Brazilians were very interested in those instrument while they were there. Buying them to present on the night TV Show called Jo Soares.
Sepultura is a heavy metal band from Minas Gerais State (read more from Minas here) that bought a handcrafted oil can guitar in South Africa from a kid who actually did and was playing on the street.
Jo Soares TV show presented in 2002.
Nuno Mindelis is a famous Angolan-born Brazilian, blues guitarist and singer-songwriter. He also presented a handmade oil can guitar. Similar of the one he did and used to play before the the international fame as musician. He lost his oil can guitar in the Angola Civil War (1961-1974) before his mom move to Brazil for good.
Nuno Mindelis at Jo Soares TV show in 2013.
It's difficult seeing people playing professionally the cigar box guitar. Also the variety with oil or gas can just like Mc Arnold does. He was the best Traditional Male Artist for 2012, and still playing two of yours handmade gas can guitars. I was luck to be there one day.

The 5 Browns started playing when they were only 3 years old. Today they are in their 30s, and erasing a family scandal about the father and the 3 daughters with their remarkable talent. The group represents Steinway & Sons pianos. They say is the only piano which can have almost the same sound comparing to each other. Who plays knows this is very difficult to find in a musical instrument. They are all different, they are all unique. In this video, Desirae (35) the oldest, Deondra (33), Gregory (31), Melody (30) and Ryan (28) play a Star Wars song. Perfectamundo, as my friend says.
The piano we found in South Carolina it's amazing beautiful, and has the signature of those 5 siblings. Made in 1987 with a custom case designed by New York craftsman Wendell Castle, was formally presented in a gala concert at Carnegie Hall on the second of June 1988, celebrating Steinway's 135th anniversary. The commemorative Steinway is executed in exotic wood veneers. The piano was subsequently displayed in Steinway Hall on West 57th Street in New York, and then sent on an international tour to Europe and Japan for further display. Case Brothers of Spartanburg hosted the 500.000th Steinway in 1992 and in 2002.

A man who plays a musical instrument has more advantage with women. It's known they see this skill related with intellectual and genetic dominance. It seems cliche, it is cliche, but is also true.
Darwin has dedicated pages in his Evolutionary Theory to birds and human beings songs to attract a sexual partner. For him, this should be an adaptation's factor. Another recent study shows that women prefer if a man has a photo with an instrument on his profile. The difference is 28% "likes" if he has a guitar versus 10% without. It calls theory of sexual selection by music.
however, you shouldn't just fake up a photo on Photoshop with a pretty guitar. You don't need to be a guitar, or electric guitar. Any musical instrument will tell your loved one you is one step ahead.
So let's walk and shake!
Guitar made from only one piece of composite material called Arium.
Arium is made of many resins combined and micro particles of vibro-sensitive glass.
Aristide Poort is from Nederland who started in 1995 learning how the sound moves in a guitar wood's body to get the perfect acoustics. After his understanding it, he called for designers to help giving life to his idea. Many engineers said was impossible to build, but we've hear that all day long, right?
You may be able to see quite few Brazilians in Aristides Guitar's portfolio.

The story of a pianist prodigy rising from humble beginnings to international acclaim is nothing new, but even by child prodigy standards, the pianist Nelson Freire's abilities were surprising.
Born on October 18th, 1944 in a small town in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais called Boa Esperança, Freire amazed everyone around him by replaying from memory pieces his elder sister had just performed when he was 3 years old. Giving his first public performance when he was only four. At the age of 5, Freire chose Mozart's Sonata in A major, K. 331 for his first public recital.
Later he took lessons with the Rio-based pianist Nise Obino with whom he would form a close relationship, and with Lucia Branco, a former student of one of Liszt's pupils. He quickly proved himself as a virtuoso, absorbing new repertoire at tremendous pace.

When everybody still asking what's going on in Brazil, "the most joyful country in the world", as Stephen Colbert said here. Also afraid of going there next year for the World Cup, because the everyday violence, and those protests... I saw the light at the end of the tunnel! A song from MC Garden which explains a lot about Brazilians expectations.
Fist of all, I must tell you this is not my style for music at all. I'm more classic, pop rock girl, BUT this lyric is full of knowledge about what's making people mad down there. MC Garden is a courageous guy for posting the song again. He'd the video mysteriously deleted from youtube. He said that in Portuguese on the comments below the original video clip. His video is very well done and has CC in English, provided by Bernardo Guia and Jennifer Nascimento.
Hoping you enjoy it. If so, like it!

How good you think is meet a friend who also works in the same industry of you? Amazing! We were able to share ideas about a trend which is full of Brazil's flavor Social Hybridization is the English (free) translation for Portuguese "Hibridização Cultural", or mixing things. This trend is growing fast in Brazil, and combines opposite ideas. It may be in a small event in a mall (as you saw here, in Portuguese, sorry), or in a very innovative way as you'll see in those videos below. Also has a lot to do with the Brazilian lifestyle, the mix pot, the country were mingle is a rule. This video is great, the story behind the scene is amazing! Bu to make this long story short, I will tell Reserva brand is presenting an accomplished guy called John Lennon da Silva dancing Carnival of the Animals (Zoological Fantasy) in The Swan, Dying Swan, to be more specific. - What it's related with Social Hybridization Trend? A guy who came from a poor family uses his unique dance, inspired on the street dance to perform a classical music for a urban brand from Rio de Janeiro.
Other video launch the new Mercedes Benz, the Classe A using a funk music as background. The song is polemic by it self, but not exactly because the lyric. In a free translation is something infant like "turning, turning, turning side to right, turning, turning, turning to the other side". But nowadays, many groups are requiring the right to play this music, and this is not the only scandal. People are saying the marketing manager was fired after this daring ad. - What it's related with Social Hybridization Trend? This is an expensive car, although is the basic model for Mercedes brand. A luxury product made for a emerging marketing is using a suburban music in a commercial.
Conclusion: the mutant country it's built from social fusion.

I made those records while I was waiting my flight to home. This amazing tunnel has 700 feet or 213 meters between concourse B and C to concourse A. DTW or Detroit Metro Airport Wayne County tunnel is a happy combination of color and music in a huge empty area.
It's one of those tunnels you will find in Americans airports, Chicago has another beautiful one. Made by Foxfire Glass with 9000 feet or 2,75 Km of LEDs lamps sincronized by Mill James. But if you have issues with lights, and music, just pull a button before you go inside the tunnel. It will stop everything for 5 minutes. Enough time for crossing the tunnel.
This first video is calm, has less people, but the second is different because I've staying longer there coming and going. My second leg for home took half day. Enough for those records and more.
