BMW Museum and Andy Warhol

In 1975, BMW started the project called Art Cars. They invited artist to paint a BMW vehicle with their technique. Andy Warhol did one of those in 1979, and the miniature is at the BMW Museum in South Carolina.

The model was hand painted by Warhol in real scale in 23 minutes to avoid defects on the painting. All windows needed to be removed and replaced after the art work. Andy wanted to simulate the high speed doing blur and splited ink simulatons.

The 1:18 special edition miniatures were sold for 125 dolars that time, but nowadays they are rare, and expensive.
